Number 29 is Take a Bubble Bath. I am happy to report it has been completed!!

Now some may say this is not a big deal but, for me, it is. I had to find bath products that I didn't react to. Thanks to my dear friend Christina, I found Lush.

Lush is wonderful handmade bath products! They are all natural, some are even vegan! I went into the store and was overwhelmed with the smell but on a mission to get bubble bath products along with some other products to try. I came out with a bubble bath bar and a few bath bombs.

They are heaven and the best thing....no reaction to them!! Lush I love you!

101 Things Item 15 complete

Number 15 on the list was to plan a date that was not just dinner and a movie.

I completed this on by attending the Plano Balloon Festival. I had always wanted to go but never managed to get there while it was here. This year....I made a point to go!
The festival was fun. James and I along with Patrick, Charlotte, and the girls went. While we were there I ran into my cousin Connie and her family. It was so nice to be out with good friends and family.

The weather did not permit the launching of balloons but we did get to the glow show. All the balloons do a burn and it makes it look like they are glowing. It was pretty!! They had all kinds of balloons there. We saw a lady bug, a pirate ship, an ark, a monster, along with regular balloons.

They also had a memorial to 9/11 right as you walked in. I don't know about you but I have never been able to actually see a piece of the buildings that fell that day. I felt honored to finally be able to see it. Here is what they had.

Wow I am a slacker

I apologize for the month of silence!! Here is a super quick update for my faithful, silent, blog readers. :)

Running is going at this point. I cant say it is going well or that it is going really bad. It is just going. The weather has been so dang hot that it takes a toll on you! My pace has dropped and I am not able to run flat out. I have to take walking breaks. The walking kills me. I feel that I should be able to just go run at this point and I can not. I am still plugging away at it. I have registered for my race, The White Rock Half on December 4! Ready or not I will do it!!

I will win!

I thought I should post an update on how my running is going since the last one was so down in the dump.

After the last update I put my mind to the fact that I was going to work on this and I was going to win. I started running outside more, eating somewhat better, and drinking a crapton more water. On Thursday I went for a run and it seems to have been a turning point. I ran 2 full miles without walking one single step and felt amazing after!

Saturday morning came along and I was so eager to see how it went. I showed up at the park only to find out I was the only one there! I was ticked to say the least. I managed to find the group and catch up. I had another amazing run to boot!! I love this turn and hope that the trend keeps up!!

I have my August race next Saturday so we will see how it goes!

I apologize for the long silence. I have been super busy!

I have started training for a half marathon! Yes I very well could be insane. It has been a struggle but one I am not willing to quit on. I do my long runs on Saturday mornings, boy 5 am comes super early on Saturdays! I will keep you all updated on my progress.

I am happy to report that Christina and I have kept up the one race a month! We are kicking butt and taking names! We are really enjoying the races too!

Weekend Wrap Up!

This weekend was a wonderful weekend! I took off work on Thursday and Friday to head to OK to see my oldest nephew graduate kindergarten! It started off rocky but once I finally got on the road it was smooth sailing!

It all started on Thursday, I took the car in to get the tires rotated before heading out. They told me that one of my CV/axle joints was leaking and there was grease everywhere! I called my dealer and they told me that I would have to leave my car for a few days because they would have to inspect and then order the parts. I knew this was not going to work because I had to be in OK by 7 that night! So I went to Huffines, whom I have sworn I would never use again, and they got my car right in for an inspection. I got beyond lucky because another 2011 Sonata came in with the same issue earlier in the week and had not come back in to get the part put on. SO they put it on my car. I was on the road in a fully repaired car in about 1:30!

We got to OK about 30 minutes before we headed out to see Jack graduate! It was so cute! We were treated to Ben screaming BROTHER when Jack was walking it. It was so cute because the whole auditorium was giggling. After that we were treated to several songs by the kids, one of which was the Okie Pokey! It was so cute.

Friday we just hung out around the house and played. Now Saturday was a super fun packed day! We went to the science museum and the boys had a blast! Jack had so much fun he was going from station to station and just having a blast! We got to ride Segways!! Now that was interesting but fun!

After we left the museum Jack had a birthday party for his best bud Austin at a bowling alley. This was interesting because Jack had never bowled before. Needless to say it was super cute to watch. He loved hitting the pins. He says he now wants his birthday party there too. I am secretly hoping for a birthday at the science museum though. LOL

Sunday was a day of driving home and just getting ready for work tomorrow!

LoveJoy 5K

Today was my last meeting of my running group. Today was the benchmark run so we took part in the LoveJoy 5K.

It was a beautiful day for a run! The temp was down, down right cold when you were not running, but once the run started it was amazing! The sun was shining and the wind was blowing.

I was excited and concerned all at the same time. I had not been training this past week thanks to overdoing it at the Thrill of the Grill and Heels and Hills in the same weekend. I really wanted to do well in this race so I just took it easy and hoped for the best!

I was on my own this race so I put my earphones in and started my new play list, thanks to jog.fm. The gun went off and off I went! I wont say it was super easy but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I jammed to my music while trying to ignore the pain in my calves and left ankle. I will say that I did walk a couple of times but not even a full minute each time.

I think I came in under my time at Thrill of The Grill. I am waiting on results to be posted.

I will say this, it is amazing to know that I can do it on my own! Knowing that I can get dressed and go run 3 miles is empowering to me!

Busy Weekend

This weekend has been super busy but full of fun!

Friday night I went to dinner for a friends 30th birthday! It was a lot of fun and I got to meet some new people and even catch up with some old ones!

Saturday was a major milestone for me in my running journey! I was able to run an entire 5K with one 2 1 minute walk breaks! While I am still waiting on official results my self timing says I finished in 42.:22 minutes! I am beyond proud of this accomplishment! I have worked very hard and have come so far.

Sunday I completed my first 10K with my friend Christina! I am very happy to report that we completed this in 1:30!! It was cold, windy, and very rainy! It did not matter to us we were there and were going to finish!

March of Dime 5 Mile

I completed the March of Dimes 5 Mile walk on April 16. My friend and I walked/ran on the Preemie Princess Team.

Lindsey and I got there about an hour before start time. We walked around and took it all in, there was a lot to see!! There were people giving out stuff, grilling, and playing lots of music! There were lots of things for children, jump houses and race cars! We managed to catch up with our team! Brynn was so sweet!!

We knew this was a walk not a run but we wanted to try and run it so we made our way to the front of the line and waited for the event to start! We managed to walk 1 minute and run 1 minute for the entire 5 miles! I was super excited when we crossed the finish line in exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes!

Keep in mind that before the race Lindsey and I completed our 20 minutes running for running group! By the end of the day we had about 7 miles under our belt!

It was a wonderful day and makes me super excited for my first ever 10K on May 1!

April 5K

This month is a little different. I dis the MS Walk, 5k and will be doing the March of Dimes 5 mile walk. Please feel free to donate if you feel like giving to a great cause! Well minus one of our team mates falling and breaking her left wrist and sprained her right. :( I am very excited for the March of Dimes walk! Running Group

Well I am really enjoying running and I want to do a half marathon. Not sure what one yet. So I joined a running group. I joined the 9 to 5 that is put on by Luke's Locker. We meet every Saturday at 7 am, yes I am insane. We have meet the past 3 weeks. I was pretty worried that I would not be able to keep up but by following the training schedule I am improving tremendously! I managed to run 1.25 miles solid!! I was pretty excited at this breakthrough! I will keep you all posted on my progress.

Rewind: March 5K

Race: Dash Down Greenville This race was a pretty nice course. It even had people giving out jello shots along the beginning of the course! LOL I had a pretty hard time with this race. The week of the race I purchased official running shoes. I was told they would be fine to race in.....WRONG! My left ankle was killing me and my calves were burning like none other! It was miserable and without my friends to push me along I am not sure I would have completed it. But I am happy to report I finished it!

Rewind: February 5K

This month we did the Cowtown in Fort Worth. Let me tell you this....it is not a fun course at all. It is filled with hills which is challenging and not fun for us this time. We waited to long to pick a local race so we had to drive to Fort Worth. It was not a bad drive but it was way to early. We got there with about 10 minutes left to spare. Not to bad. It was crowded too! After we completed the race we walked around the expo, where we found a really cool running belt!! It is by iFitness. I can not say enough good things about the belt I purchased and the customer service. The one I ordered was out of stock so they called me and corrected the order with an even better color option! Highly recommend them!!

Rewind: January 5K

I did the Hot Chocolate Run with Christina. This was my first 5K ever and boy did I learn things!
1. Make sure your pants are not to long.
2. You might need to do a little training before doing a 5k.
3. It is fun to do a 5k!

The run was in Addison. It was a cold wet January morning let me tell you. It was really hard to get my sorry bum out of bed but boy I am glad I did!

The course was not a bad one! There was only 1 hill going each way and it was not that crowded so running was an option. Since I am writing this late I am not sure on the official time but it was around 45ish minutes. Not to awful for a first time with no training.

Now by the time I finished the race my pants were soaked from the knees down, as were my socks and shoes. (aka to lesson 1.) My hips were killing me (aka lesson 2) and I had a blast! I was ready to do another one right there!! (aka lesson 3)

I came home and took a hot bath followed by a nap! It was a great experience and one I am looking forward to doing more of!

Valentines Day 2011

I love Valentines Day! Anyone who knows me knows that. Every year it is a big deal. Well this year James and I wanted to shake it up a bit and find a different place for dinner. I know we are rebels I tell ya. We ended up going to P. F. Changs for dinner. Let me tell you this....it was yummy! Neither of us had been there before so it was fun for us both! We love the Mongolian beef!!

James also surprised me with flowers! Well he tried to surprise me but thanks to the silly florist messing things up he had to tell me but none the less I love them! He even remembered to include my favorite flower, tulips!! I have included a couple of pictures for your viewing pleasure!

More Snow!

We have been dealing with lots of ice this week in Dallas. The weatherman called for a dusting of snow over night Thursday, imagine my shock when I woke up and found out that the dusting was 5-7 inches!!

Jade was not pleased with the snow.

Yesterday James and I got to spend the day together since we were iced in! It was great. We laid around and watched movies all day! We pulled out the air mattress and just vegged! It was wonderful!

James had never seen Despicable Me so we got that off on demand and started the movie marathon off with that. It was followed with Independence Day, Twilight, National Treasure, and then New Moon.

I am so thankful for the day we got to spend together!!

On Christmas day we had a lot of family come in from Little Rock. It was a lot of fun! I cooked and baked for 3 days but it was so worth it! Having family around is what makes the holidays for me. Here are a few pictures.

Note: Yes I know this is late but things have been pretty busy this past few months! I still wanted to post so here you go.

This year was different around the Rose household. Normally we go to my sisters house for Christmas but she moved to Oklahoma so we hosted this year.

First we did birthday's and Christmas with my family on the 18Th. Everyone had a wonderful time in spite of the fact that I was really sick. My family pulled a fast one on me this year let me tell you! My mom, sister, and dad all went in together for my birthday and Christmas and got me a NookColor!! I was really shocked and so happy!! (Side note....I am looking for book recs. I am plowing through books like none other!)

Jack and Ben loved all their gifts too!

I would like to take a few minutes to introduce a new addition to the Rose family.

We have been talking about getting a new car for a while now, ok well I have been at least! I knew I wanted to stay with Hyundai. I love my Accent. It was a great car! It just was not big enough anymore.

So I started looking at all the different cars Hyundai made. James wanted to get an SUV but I am a car person. I did test drive the Tuscon and it was nice, I just wanted a car. I feel more comfortable in them. I digress....Anyway after looking at the cars offered and the cost I knew I wanted the Sonata GLS.

I love the safety features!

The engine is left to right versus front to back. In a head on collision the brackets holding the engine will break and it will drop down. It will not come into the dash.

I love the way it looks! How can you not?! (If you don't like it, please don't tell me! It would crush me!) James is in love with all the room and the cup holders in the back seat! I love the way it drives too! Very smooth and nice! It has bluetooth and it will tell you how many miles to empty!

To sum it up....I love everything about this car! I try to sleep in it but James wont let me. LOL

James' motorcycle is FOUND!!

Now that I have that out of the way let me back up......

In May we went out of town to see Taylor, James' niece, graduate high school. It was a wonderful trip!

When we got home we realized the motorcycle was gone. :( We called the police and made a report. They told us that they were currently tracking a couple who would get a moving van/truck, load up the bikes, strip them, then dump the frames. For weeks we kept waiting for the call that the frame had been found. It never came and we just moved on.

The call came on Friday. I was at work and ignored the call on my cell because it was a private number. I don't answer private numbers. I figure if they are important they will leave a voicemail. But I digress. I checked the voicemail and was told that James' bike had been found! We were told to call the wrecker service and claim the bike.

I immediately called the wrecker service and got the information I needed so we could go pick up the bike. We were told to bring proof of ownership and a photo id. We were also told that the bike was in running condition!

I called James at work and told him. He didn't believe me! It was pretty awesome!

So off we went on Saturday morning to claim the bike, in Frankston, TX. Let me tell you it was far! 116 miles one way far. We talked, sang, found our favorite pizza place, Mazzio's, and finally got to the bike!

We were beyond amazed that it was in great shape!! It runs pretty well, has a new paint job (we are not real happy with it but it is a pricey paint job), seems to have had some break work done, and a few other things. We were soooooo happy to get it back and to have it in good shape was more than we ever imagined!

I am now wondering if I will ever get James upstairs or if he will forever sleep with the bike!

I am a self admitted blog stalker of The Pioneer Woman. Ree cracks me up and makes my day with her blogs! Today she posted this blog and I am going to take her advise. We shall see how I do with blogging at least once a day!

She suggests to talk to my loyal readers like you are my sister....I will spare you that and just talk to you like I do to myself! Mwahahahaha this will become very entertaining is my prediction!

Cardio, Butts, and Guts!

I have been in a rut, a bit rut. I have not been to the gym regularly in a few months. It all started when I was feeling rotten and just got out of the habit of going. It is so easy to just go home after working all day! But I am happy to report that this week have been to the gym all week, well work week.I am happy to report that during my break I did not gain anything back! Whew!

Now I just have to get back on the losing track! I am fitting into smaller clothes which is a great feeling! I went shopping last weekend with a great friend, Adrienne. I realized I really am shrinking! It gave me the motivation to drag my butt back to the gym!

So back to the gym for me! On Monday I did cardio, arms, crunches, and hips! This made me very sore in my shoulders on Tuesday, so after some motivation from my facebook buds I went back. I did the elliptical (not as intense as Monday but I did do it!), 1 shoulder machine (versus the 3 on Monday), and hips. Wednesday I did a class! This is a first for me!

The class is called Cardio, Butts, and Guts! Kristy teaches it and let me tell you, when she is screaming in the microphone telling you to go faster, or sink lower into that lunge you do it! I walked out of there beat but feeling great! I just hung there for a full class, 50 minutes! In the class she does a lot of lunges, squats, and cardio work. I think I am going to keep going so I can get rid of butt and gut!

Book Review:The Walk

I recently finished reading The Walk by Richard Paul Evans.

In this book you meet Alan Christoffersen. He seems to be living the dream. He has is own company, a Lexus sports coupe, a big house, and a beautiful wife. All is well until he gets a call his wife has been in an accident. I wont give the book away but he goes from having it all to having nothing in a matter of a few weeks. You follow Alan through the worst time in his life. He is about to kill himself when something happens and he does not do it. Instead he gathers some stuff and just walks. He is going to walk to the farthest point possible from where he is, Key West Flordia.

The Walk is the first of 5 books that will take Alan to Key West. I can not say enough wonderful things about this book. It is a story of finding hope when there seems to be none.

Weekend Wrap Up!

I have this love hate relationship with Sunday. I love that it is a pretty relaxing day full of family time. I hate that it is the end of my weekend. But Sunday is the day I get to post the Weekend Wrap Up on here so I guess it is a good day. LOL

Friday night I went to dinner with Mariah and some of her friends to celebrate her last day at her job and celebration of the beginning of her new job! She is going to be a music teacher! I know she will do great!

Saturday Courtney came over and we tried our hand at cooking several meals for our freezers! It was a bit overwhelming but in the end we loved it and are looking forward to doing it again! We made Poppy Seed Beef, Blackened Chicken, Chicken Spaghetti, and Stuffed Pork Chops.

Here is Ben helping us out. :)

Sunday my Mom came out and taught me how to make chicken and egg noodles from scratch. I love cooking with her in the kitchen. She also baked a chicken for us to have for dinner tomorrow night. It was a great.

Weekend Wrap Up!

This weekend was super busy but a lot of fun!

Friday night James had to work so we cooked dinner and just hung out until it was time for him to go into work.

Saturday was super busy! I went to my sisters house to hang with her and then babysit the boys while Angela and Jody went out for their anniversary. Angela and I went to run some errands and had some great sister time. We got Jack's birthday gift, finished up getting the party decorations, to the jewelers, and the grocery store.

When Angela and Jody went to dinner and a movie, Jack, Ben, and I loaded up and went to McDonald's for dinner. Jack got to play and we had a good time, until a kid pushed Jack, hard. I was an unhappy aunt that is for sure. I told the kid no and he didn't go near Jack again. Fine by me! When we got home Jack and I baked a cake. Not just any cake....a strawberry cake in the shape of spiderman. He was impressed let me tell you. LOL After giving the boys baths and getting Ben to bed, Jack and I cuddled up on the couch and watched a movie. It was a great night.

Sunday was not such a great day. I was sick with a headache and my gastritis was acting up. Kimbo and Lindsey came over. It was a nice visit. They played Wii and ate dinner with us.

Overall it was a great weekend. Didnt get a lot done in the house cleaning/laundry area but I will get that done during the week. :)

Well it is my second official Sunday's of Grace.

1. This week I has been a very busy and stressful one but I am thankful to be here on this beautiful Sunday to make this post.

2. I am thankful to have my job and to love the people I work with. Even when things are beyond stressful and hectic I try to take a step back and realize this. It does not always work but I still try and am always thankful.

3. I am thankful to have a great husband who is there for me.

THE Gift

I am so excited but I will start at the beginning...the VERY beginning.

On July 5 James tells me that he found something he wanted to buy me. Here is how it went from there.

Me: Where is it?

James: I don't have it yet.

Me:Why not?

From there we discussed how much money he needed to spend in order to purchase said gift. It was agreed we could afford to spend that much and our day went on. He went to lala land and I played Wii (that is a story for another post).

Flash forward to my bed time....

Me: When will my gift be here?

James: I have not ordered it, thanks for reminding me.

Me: What?! Go order it! I need to know when it will be here.

In the next 7 days there were a lot of questions from me asking where the gift was, when it was going to be here, and what it was. In the midst of all my questioning and James' teasing I figured out that it was really a them and it was supposed to be here either 07/12 or 07/13.

Weeeeellllllll......

It came today, 07/13/10!!!

When I came home James told me there was good news and bad news. He told me my gift was in Irving and showed me the tracking screen showing it was delivered!! He then told me it was in the bread box. I told him no it was not. Seems we were both correct. There was a gift in there but it was not the one that was delivered. He had cleverly taken an old jewelry box and wrapped it up. He put a note in there that said "Nope not it....them!!" Then he had me sit on the couch and close my eyes. He brought out the real gift! Here is what was in the box!!

I am thankful for

1. My sister. She is always there when I need to talk or am upset or just want to check in with her. Plus she has given me two of the best nephews ever! There is nothing like having a sister to go with you through the good and bad times.

2. My friends. I have been blessed with several wonderful friends. We go eat, shop, bake, talk, etc. You name it we do it!

For those who know me you know I love the Janet Evanovich books, esp the Stephanie Plum series! I have gotten 2 ladies at work hooked on them as well!

In this series Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter but not a great one. Her trials and blunders keep me laughing all through out the books! She has 2 love interest, Ranger and Joe Morelli. Ranger is a fellow, but way better than Stephanie, bounty hunter. Joe is a Trenton cop. You can read about this series here.

She has an in between the number series that has Diesel in it. Diesel has magical powers and he tracks down bad guys who have magical powers with the help of Stephanie. Weeeeelllll Janet Evanovich has created a novel with just Diesel in it is coming out in September! I am so excited! You can read about it here.

This past weekend was a FANTASTIC weekend! It was filled with great food, family, and fun!

On Saturday we had a birthday dinner for my Mom. It was a great night! We went to Applebee's for dinner. I made her 2 cakes!

On Sunday we had James's Dad, Johnny, his girlfriend, Becca, Charlotte and the girls over for dinner. We grilled out ribs and chicken! It was yummy!! James loves playing with the girls! Sami likes riding Uncle James as a horse and Dani likes to beat him up! There is never a dull moment with them around. I love every minute of it!

On Monday my sister, Angela, her hubby, Jody, and the boys came out! We went swimming and the grilled out steaks and pork chops! The boys were worn out from swimming but after dinner Jack, Ben and I watched Alvin and The Chipmuncks the Squekel. It was actually a pretty cute movie! Plus it was a great time with both the boys and I just chilling on the bed watching a movie!

2 years ago today James and I said I Do!

It was a wonderful day and while every relationship has its ups and downs it is always a fantastic ride. I am glad to have James beside me no matter what. Happy Anniversary Honey!

I am proud to announce that Baby Slayton has made an appearance.....IT'S A BOY!!!! Benjamin Ellis was born 04/06/10 at 11:03 pm.

Angela is doing great! She really does not look like she has had a baby at all!

Ben has thus far been a laid back baby! He didn't even cry when they stuck his heel to get blood!

Flowers for my patio!

Now those who know me know I do not have a real green thumb...it is ok but not good. But I wanted flowers on my patio! So I called my friend Charlotte, who's thumb is so green it is not fair. She was only to happy to help me. She came and got me and off we went to Home Depot!

We walked around for at least an hour looking at pots and all the different flowers! It was fun and overwhelming! There were so many different flowers that I really liked! But I ended up picking some annuals, Moonflowers (I am growing those from seeds), and Jasmin (smells wonderful by the way)!

Houston Trip!!

A couple of weekends ago I went to Houston to meet up with a friend I have not seen in a year! It was so much fun!

We both drove in on Saturday and left on Sunday, a quick trip. No matter it was a blast! We did some shopping at the Galleria.

Then it was off to the hotel to check in and to spoil the Bug a little bit! I got her a dress, 4 books, and a doll. I hear that the doll is a major hit! She tried to take her in the bath tub! LOL (No worries I am already shopping for a bathtub safe doll for her.)

Most of our time was spent in our hotel room just playing with the Bug and catching up! It was so much fun yet laid back and a good time! We even tried to watch New Moon but both of us fell asleep not even half way through! LOL

I was asked to go on a work trip to College Station! I was super excited! See this is my first business trip. I.Am.Excited. But I digress....

Wanted...New Feet

So I have debated if I wanted to post this or not but opted to go ahead.

It was Tuesday morning and it was cold! I was walking into work from the train. I had my purse and my laptop. I was walking up the stairs to my building and fell. I am not real sure how or why but I know I was walking one minute and the next I was down on the ground....on top of the my laptop! Don't worry the laptop came out with zero damage.

So I am in the market for new feet! Let me know if you see any for sale!

Whew! This was a very busy day! Don't get me wrong it was a great one but it was busy!

Saturday started early! I got up and drove to watch Jack play soccer! Have you ever seen 4 year olds play soccer? No? Well you should! It was so cute! I must mention that no score is kept when they are this young. The boys are just learning to play on a team and learning to play the game period. Here are a few pictures from the game.

After the game I got to spend some time with my sister, just her and I! We went out shopping for Baby Slayton! It was great to spend some sister time together.

After the shopping it was time to celebrate Dani's 10th Birthday! We went to Joe Willy's in Rockwall for dinner. It was a blast! Dani had requested money for her birthday, she is saving for a MacBook. Most all of the people in attendance listened and gave her cash. Little did she know that she would be receiving the computer from her aunt Linda! It was great to see her face when she opened it! Happy Birthday Dani!!

Valentines Day 2010!

James and I celebrated Valentines Day on Saturday. We had a great night!

James came home from work with flowers, a teddy bear, and a dancing monkey! I love the monkey! This was a total shock to me because he had told me to go get a pedicure for my gift. It was very sweet and I loved it!

After my flowers I gave him his gift....a 1 hour massage! He has been saying he wanted one but would never go! So I went all sneaky sneaky and made it his Valentines gift! He was beyond shocked!

After the gifts we were off to The Melting Pot for dinner! When we got to our table we had this cute little package of stuff that included a $25 gift card! It was so yummy! We did the Big Night Out. This comes with 4 courses. We did the Mardis Gras Cheese, salads, the Fondue Feast, and then topped it all off with Bananas Fosters chocolate!

It was a great night for us both!

Stars Game

My boss, Sarah, has season tickets to the Dallas Stars and she took me to the game on Friday! It was super fun!!

I had never been before so I had no clue what to expect. My other coworkers had me scared to death I was going to freeze!! In preparation I wore a long sleeved shirt and brought my big fuzzy sweat shirt. I wore both of those under my wool jacket and was just fine. I even started getting hot towards the end. (I am sure this had nothing to do with me jumping up and down screaming at the players. LOL )

It started out with me being very confused but Sarah quickly put that to an end! She explained things. Soon I was screaming at the guys to "get it out of there" or "come on" LOL I even had her laughing at me when I told them that was unnecessary roughness! She quickly told me that there was no such thing in hockey! At one point I was telling our guys to do some unnecessary roughness against their goalie because he was blocking to many of our goal attempts!

Meredith and Abbey

This is one of the kindest things you may ever see..

It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the USpostal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month.. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick..I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey &Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by..
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me.. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

I did it!!

For Christmas my mom and her hubby ,Bob, got me 2 new cookbooks! Pioneer Woman's and The Farm Chicks. I have fallen in love with the Pioneer Woman's! (Yes I will be updating my cooking blog with pictures and the recipes as well very very soon.) She is a woman after my own heart for real!

I have gone through the book and tagged each page that I want to try. I think it is about every other page is flagged! So far I have made Chicken Pot Pie, Pie Crust, Egg-in-the-hole Sandwiches, and Cinnamon Rolls!!!

I am so stinking excited about these rolls! The recipe makes A LOT....40-50 says PW but I think I cut mine smaller because I got 30ish out of HALF of the recipe! I am up to my ears in cinnamon rolls but that is ok because I am enjoying every minute of it! Can I just say PW is right when she says your kitchen will smell like the best place on earth and you could sell tickets?

I am sorry for not posting more. I wish I could say things have been hectic but they have not been. Just the normal Christmas stress, work, and home.

James is doing well. I am so happy to report that James passed both his classes with B's. He is still working part time at CVS. It seems to be going well. He enjoys the work but not so much the insane customers! I have heard some pretty odd stories!

I am not up to much other than baking. I go to work and home. I really enjoy my work, read my coworkers are wonderful. I have been trying lots of new recipes. I will be posting all about them on my cooking blog.

Rewind: James's Birthday

Moving Day

Well today was moving day. It went pretty well I think! Dad and Tammy came over on Tuesday night to help me finish up packing. Tammy and I got it all done in 3 hours! It was awesome but man were we sleepy. We went to bed around 11:30 and were up by 7!

The movers called and asked to come early! I was shocked and amazed. Which by the way if you are looking for movers I highly recommend The Apt Movers. They were cheaper than everyone I called and they did an amazing job! They were very considerate of my stuff and very polite. But I digress...They got here around 9 and we got busy. By 2 we had everything over to the new apartment and the old one cleaned! I have been unpacking most of the afternoon.

Dad got both TVs hung up and ready for the Fio's guy to come install and helped get the big furniture in place. Tammy and I got several boxes unpacked and ready to be broken down! I managed to get all the laundry done. Now I am sitting on my new balcony, wrapped in a blanket enjoying the wonderful weather!

Bad Blogger....No Cookie

I am a bad bad blog hostess! I have been neglecting this blog and therefore my loyal blog readers! I will do my best to explain why now.

Johnny had his surgery on 08/12/09, which you all know. What you don't know is that he started going down hill pretty fast. His stool was backing up into his abdomen and they had to do another surgery on 09/22/09. He didn't recover to well after that. He was on a breathing machine, his abdomen was very very angry and not healing. They had to put him under some heavy sedation. Well on Friday, 09/18, they took him off the vent!!! It was a WONDERFUL day. On Saturday he was sitting up in the chair in his room!

I will be posting a series of post to show some of the wonderful things that have happened in the past month! It may take me a few days since we are moving on Wednesday and I have NOTHING packed.

08/14 Johnny Update

I just called to get an update on how Johnny is.

He is doing wonderful according to the nurse! She said that he was given a food tray, clear liquid type tray. He drank his coffee, of course, some Sprite, and some jell-o.

She says he is taking deep breaths today and is doing his breathing exercises. This is wonderful!! She said this is always a major thing after surgery.

They are also going to get him into the chair a couple of times today as well.

I asked about the fluid on his lungs and she said that after surgery there are lots of places to put extra fluid and the lungs is one of them. She sounded like this was not an abnormal thing at all to have happen.

She says he still has a lot of pain but that they are keeping a close eye on it. They are making sure he is comfortable.

I am beyond excited at this report!

Update on Johnny

Johnny had his surgery yesterday. Here is the update as of this morning.

He had a rough night and is tired. Johnny just received his pain shot. He is resting right now. I am happy to report that they are keeping his pain under control.

He has only received one pint of blood so far. His levels are low so they will recheck in a few hours to see if they need to give him more. Nothing new overnight really.

Jack, the nurse, said they will try to get Johnny out of the bed and in the chair today. This will give me some exercise and will help to prevent infections and things like that. It will also help the lungs. Johnny is having issues taking deep breaths because it hurts to do so.

I asked if they were going to feed him. Johnny was saying last night he was hungry. Jack said the surgeon and the Intensive Care doctor would get together and see about that. The issue is the work that was done on his stomach. They don’t want to create and infection. So if they are going to let him eat tomorrow then they will not give food intravenously. If it is going to be longer then yes they will. The issue is with the bag of food is that it is a playground for bacteria. We are trying to prevent infections if at all possible.

The doctor came by while we were there last night. The tumor was larger than a softball. They are assuming it is the same kind of cancer he had last time. There is talk of radiation treatments this time. Right now it is a waiting game.

Christmas in August!!

I come to you from my brand new laptop!!!

I called James today after he got off to see if he could take some meat out of the freezer for dinner. He said he was not home that he was going to get my Christmas/Birthday present. Of course I wanted to know what it was! After some quick thinking on my part I guessed it was a new laptop!

It has windows Vista Home Edition on it, I am trying to get used to it. LOL But this is so cool! I cant wait to spend some quality time with it and get it figured out!

He passed!!! (We all knew he would)

He pulled the hardest version of the test....the math one. He said there was only like 5 non math questions on the whole thing! I am so proud of him!

Well today is the big day, James is taking his state certification test tonight! He has been studying very hard and I am sure he will do great! It starts at 5 and ends at 7.

If you have his email or phone number you should wish him good luck! He is a tad nervous this morning. I know he would appreciate all the well wishes!

Prayer Requests

I would like to ask that you all keep my father in law, Johnny, in your prayers. He was informed he will have to have another surgery on August 12. This one will be here at Medical City. I am not sure on the time but we are assuming early morning. I will post updates as I know them.

They are going in after the one spot that keeps coming up on the PET scan. They tried to shrink it with chemo but there was no change to it. They are not sure if the spot is cancer, infection, scar tissue, etc so they are going in after it. While they are in there they will also try to take out some of the scar tissue that is causing him pain.

We also found out James's mother is in the hospital with pancreatitis. She was visiting a friend in West Virgina who had just got out of the hospital and ended up in the hospital herself. She seems to be responding well to treatment and should be home in a couple of days.

I went to Kaboom town in Addison on Thursday. I was proud of myself for going alone. While I was sitting there watching the old fighter planes and then the fireworks I got this overwhelming feeling of awe and gratitude.

I became very aware that not everyone has the privilege to sit on the grass and watch shows like I was. If it was not for the people in our armed forces we would not have that right either. I am very thankful for the freedoms I enjoy. Thank you to all the people and the families who make up our armed forces. We owe you.

I love the paint job on the jeep.

100th Post!

I have some wonderful news for my 100th post......WE ARE MOVING!!

James went to the apartment office yesterday to pick up a package. While he was there he talked to them about getting an on site storage. Well when they told him it was a 3 year wait he asked about a different apartment, one with storage. They had one that just opened up and he took it! We currently have something similar to this floor plan. They don't have a picture of my current one.

We are moving into one similar to this one. Our bottom floor will be an attached garage with inside stairs leading to the top floor.

Needless to say I am beyond excited. We will be moving on September 23-26 which is a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I really don't mind! I am going to look into finding a movers to come move the heavy stuff so James wont have to deal with much of it.

I finished reading The Host a couple of weeks ago and wanted to give my 2 cents worth. I wont go into much detail because I don't want to give anything away.

In this book you meet a human host body, Melanie, and a soul, Wanderer. The Souls want to know Melanie's secret so they insert Wanderer in her body to extract this information. The book get interesting when Melanie get Wanderer to go in search of something.

It is slow to start because you do not fully understand what is going on. I would say around page 100 it clicks and it picks up. I loved this book in the end and highly recommend you read it!

Sorry for the lack of blogging! We have been busy in the Rose house hold!

James- He is doing well. Working at CVS and Triquint. He has paid for his state certification test and has 90 days to take it. What does this mean for me you ask...lots of alone time. He will be doing a lot of studying in his off time. Other than studying and working he is pretty boring. Just sleeping. :)

Jade- She is being as cute/bad as ever! She has taken to howling at me when I get home from work. She also has a favorite blanket. Any time we are watching TV on the couch she has to be in the blanket.

Me- Well I have been in bachlorette party planning mode. Andi's bachlorette party was this past weekend. It was pretty fun! I am also working on losing weight. I was on a role until my anniversary. I have not been back to the gym since the week before. I am going back tomorrow. I started tonight but it was late so I didn't get in much workout time.

Well that about sums up our life right now. I promise I will do better about blogging and not just about New Moon, although have you seen the wolves?! HOT!! (Not near as hot as Edward but hey no one is perfect right?)

It's official, if not terribly surprising: Robert Pattinson is on board to reprise his role as sexy vampire Edward Cullen in Breaking Dawn, the upcoming adaptation of the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga.

The 23-year-old actor broke the news while at the Cannes Film Festival in France, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
RPattz added that the producers don't yet know when Breaking Dawn will begin filming, in part due to his busy filming schedule. After finishing up filming for Twilight sequel New Moon in Italy later this week, Pattinson plans to star in the upcoming Summit flick Remember Me, about a man who spends six weeks trying to figure out if he's in love or not after meeting someone. After that, he'll head back to Vancouver in October to finish up filming Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight series.

Pattinson also talked about the difficulties presented by Edward Cullen's diminished role in New Moon. While the script was tinkered with to give Cullen a bigger part than he had in the book, he's still essentially "a voice in Bella's head," the actor admits.

"You're playing a figment in Bella's imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way," Pattinson offers. "I hope it doesn't translate onscreen as being boring."

Andi's Bridal Shower!

Last night was the last show of the season which makes me sad! This season was tons better than last season and I hated to see it go! But wow it was a great show!

I ride the DART Train into work everyday so I read a lot. I have found a few authors I really really like. Jodi Picoult and Barbara Delinsky.

Jodi Picoult writes about grey area issues. Picking a baby to have to save your other daughter, kidnapping your child from your ex spouse, a death row inmate wanting to donate his organs to the family of his victim. You get my point. I love how she deals with harder issues. I have read Vanishing Acts, A Change of Heart, and My Sisters Keeper. I am currently reading Plain Truth.

Barbara Delinsky is a romance writer. Her books leave you with a happy feeling. I have read For My Daughters, Family Tree.

These authors take me to another world. There are days I wish my train ride was a tad longer. ;)

Wow it has been a little bit since I updated all my wonderful blog readers, sorry about that! Lots of things have been going on and the time has just flown by!

Johnny started chemo. He did well with his first round. He said he was tired and sore. But honestly after 6 hours at a hospital who is not tired?! I give him points for being so strong through this. He is a wonderful man.

James received his diploma!!! He finished the required classes to receive his Associates in Business. It FINALLY came in the mail on Wednesday! I will post pictures on my photo blog tonight.

Jade is doing well. Loves being spoiled and is also loving that Mommy takes her for long walks at night trying to get exercise. We have finally found a vet that listened to us and is helping with her tummy issues. We now give her 1/4 tab of Pepcid each day. She loves it...thinks it is a treat really. She is eating better and sleeping better too!

THE BOTTLE OF WINE

For all of us who are married, were married, wish we were married, or wish we weren't married, this is something to smile about the next time you see a bottle of wine:

Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road.

As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride.

With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car.

Resuming the journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman. The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Sally.

'What in bag?' asked the old woman.

Sally looked down at the brown bag and said, 'It's a bottle of wine. I got it for my husband.'

The Navajo woman was silent for another moment or two.

Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder,she said:

'Good trade.'
